Isa’s moral convictions make her a staunch advocate of womens’ rights. Her role as an outreach worker articulates her commitment to the prevention of domestic violence, and the forum theatre performance in the opening scene of the film seeks to hypothesise a solution to this problem. The hypothetical solution provides an uneasy spectacle, an awkward dramatic exteriorisation for all to witness and deride. As revealing as this exteriorisation may be it does not, however, prepare Isa for the internal conflict that will trap her in the gulf between theory and practice. |
