Details:

Fasenfests 3D work often uses collections of still portraits scavenged from online photo sharing sites like Flickr, as in this imaginative 17 minute montage of superimposed male and female faces. Each gender is tinted with a color corresponding to one side of the audiences glasses, giving viewers the chance to voluntarily and involuntarily switch back and forth between various layers of the image. It is the integration of the two channels, though, thats most striking: each male face has been carefully, playfully matched to the contours and dimensions of each female one, and vice versa. Watching the film exposes a myriad of liminal states. Gender becomes a continuum. Confusion abounds. Set to a guttural, bass heavy drone for hurdy gurdy and voice by Phill Niblock.
