Sook-Yin Lee takes us back to the suburbs of her childhood. Her neighborhood is populated by hippies, headbangers and bored ten-year-old girls. On the surface, it’s an innocent world of bicycles and basement dance competitions; but things aren’t always what they seem. ‘I Won’ is part of a trilogy of autobiographical locket-sized portraits that wrestle with a recurring theme in Sook-Yin’s work: the search for love and connection. |
