Finally got around to watching this and it wasn’t half bad. I liked it. Not a chart topper but a good time for sure. 7/10
I’ve been on a bit of a Sword and Sandal kick and I have to say, after the other Ben Hur 2010 version I had low hopes but was pleasantly surprised. It starts off a bit dodgy (acting) but it gets better. The battle scenes were pretty graphic but not gorey. The acting was pretty darn good and none of the “Historical” plot points were too over dramatic. I think they were much better played than in the 1960 and 2010 versions that didn’t really connect the dots as clearly as this one. The actor playing Judah Ben-Hur was a co-star on Boardwalk Empire. He played the military vet who was shot in the face.
