An abominable snowman- yeti, a dark figure, wanders through a snowy deserted forest plain, looking for food and shelter. Shot while the director was in transience, the film reflects on the issue of homelessness, environmental decimation and displacement caused by greed and over-expansion of the human sphere. It is a dual commentary on the issue of homelessness and environmental damage. The yeti’s face is unseen or crudely blurred, representing our so often blunt refusal to face the pain of acknowledging the needs of others without realizing we thus deny our own humanity, and thus our needs. It is as if the viewer is the one blocking the dark figure out, finding it too unsettling. Or is the yeti more cute because he is furry?
