Details:

In 2000, entertainment nonprofit organization Kollaboration was founded in Los Angeles Koreatown as a movement to seek out and showcase up-and-coming talent from the North American Asian Pacific Islander community, in an attempt to conquer the status quo and promote diversity in the media. In celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2010, four more chapters were established - one of them being Kollaboration San Francisco. Now, for the first time, director Howard Lui goes behind the scenes and explores the making of the annual showcase for the San Francisco chapter of Kollaboration - from exclusive interviews with members of the staff and performers to sneak peeks of the audition process and staff meetings. A glimpse is given into the summer workshops, the filming process for the music video and even the preparations made in the mere hours leading up to the showcase itself. Spanning over the course of nearly seven months in 2013, the documentary shows the hard work, struggles and well-worth persistence that goes into setting in motion Kollaboration’s motto of “Empowerment through Entertainment.”
