Elkhorn Slough is one of the last great wetlands in California. This amazing watershed begins on oak covered ridge lines and and reaches deep into Monterey Bay submarine canyon. It’s home to an abundance of wildlife, from hundreds of species of birds to the largest concentration of Southern sea otters in California. Yet, the unique environment was once sought after for its potential industrial uses, the community came together to change the course of history. This short video tells the story of Elkhorn Slough’s importance, and how the community came together to save it. Beautifully filmed, you’ll learn from the people involved of their personal connection to the land and the hopes they have for the slough’s future.
