Six young second-generation immigrants living in the small town of Prato in Italy meet for the first time and exchange their experiences with each other. For a few days they live in each others’ shoes, learning about their differences, similarities and diverse daily habits. The six families involved in the film shared and sang traditional chants, lullabies and love songs from their countries, material that became part of the film soundtrack. ‘Muro Di Carta’ is a documented creative experiment aimed at understanding how different cultures can co-exist peacefully in a fast-changing Italian reality, where acceptance is a daily challenge. The town of Prato has the highest percentage of immigrant residents in the country, making it the place where a new breed of Italians is born. |
