The Corridor exposes a microcosm of conflict deep in Namibia’s Kalahari Desert. Shot in difficult conditions; extreme isolation but also in the immediate aftermath of a murder, the film acts as a classical portrait of the Gubi family, a small tribe in very poor political and social circumstances. With minimal narration, and an aesthetic unusual for such remote photography, the piece reveals a modern conflict threatening one of Africa’s oldest remaining Bushmen tribes. |
