The story follows the life of Lucy, a 12 year old girl who lives with her Mother and older sister Frankie. It is 1945 rural New Zealand; WWII is coming to an end. Frankie is undergoing the transition from adolescence into womanhood. Lucy seeks out answers to the world around her for herself, in doing so she finds moral truths in unexpected places, and discovers the insight and resilient strength she needs to stand up to Frankie and what she stands for. |
