Brilliant! I’ve watched this film 7-8 times and every time I do it’s just as good as that first time. I wish they would do a sequel that is just as good. 10/10
top 100 movies for me easily -love the groundhog day bits - i dont like cruise movies normally but cannot deny he has stage presence
I kept saying, “I am not a Tom Cruise fan”, then I realized how I basically love all of his movies. Some more than others but this one is very near the top. 8.5/10
Really hilarious. I think you just captured 90% of people. There’s something annoying about the guy but you gotta admit he’s got excellent screen presence. And he just has a fantastic agent - who gets him into great films consistently. So many great ones. A recent favorite is Oblivion.
Damn how many times after Im going to be bored of this movie … 10 times still nothing change. Superb sci-fi flick. 10/10
10 year anniversary (~9 1/2 actually). Watching again now, still real fun and still cool as hell!
I need to separate Toms personal life with his professional. That being said it was great to see him start out as a D-bag and then grow into a protagonist that I really loved. As far as Emile Blount she could pick her nose for two hours and find a way to enjoy it.
Was glad to see this in the comments - always a great watch and it’s been a while. Spoiler alert: “live die repeat” means die, lots and lots and lots of times - this is the best use of time loop I’ve seen in TV or movies. Never gets old. 10/10 (yeah, it’s Cruise. You gotta admit this is his jam, he totally owns this genre and probably will for the rest of the century.)
Dunno how I overlooked this heart pounding nugget of FX ‘n boogies. Everything to like: if ya suspend disbelief in the lead guy (Blunt is good tho). Def 10/10
I like this movie a cool rewatch
Edge of Tomorrow tv-series? Yes, Warner Bros was thinking about it. Little is known about the potential TV series adaptation, with news of its existence only breaking due to a lawsuit filed against the studio by the film’s original production company, Village Roadshow. Between this lawsuit, and Warner Bros.’s later merger with Discovery, Inc, it’s possible that those plans may also end up going completely by the wayside. If Warner Bros. does indeed opt-out of pursuing their TV series, hopefully, this might just leave room for Blunt and Cruise to make their own triumphant time-travelling return in the long-gestating Edge of Tomorrow 2.
My only problem with this movie is they were really smart about everything..except one thing. WARNING - SPOILERS!! - near the end when they finally get the device and he stabs his leg and can see the omega in the Louvre, why wouldn’t she just immediately shoot him in the head right then? The ONLY thing they are after is knowledge. The knowledge of where the thing is. Now that they have it, shoot me in the head, beam me out, and we’ll start over with the knowledge of where the damn thing is. Then, go back to the general one more time, to the entire speech, ask him what he would do and he goes “I’d blow it to hell” or whatever then go “good. We’ve done this hundreds of times before, but now…I know where it is. I know exactly where it is. It’s under the Louvre in the parking garage, I’ve seen it. But you have to attack, you have to make this happen today otherwise I can’t reset the day if we lose” then spend the rest of the day with a gun to your head watching the attack, and reset the second it becomes impossible. Then just optimize from there.
