Ten young women with complex emotional and behavioral challenges go on a ‘Dream Camp’ trip of a lifetime. They are exposed to art, photography, cooking, hiking, and more while getting to know one another and their strengths in the backdrop of the peaceful and majestic town of Big Horn, Wyoming. A community of strong women develops. Camp Wyoming was not just a vacation — it was a time for healing, sharing, safety and inspiration, more then two thousand miles away from the young adults’ challenged home environments. They leave their mental and behavioral-health ‘labels’ behind and open their eyes to new and unique opportunities, realizing everyone has something good to give and the potential to succeed. With individual love and attention from the camp staff, life skills and a world of possibility were presented in a positive atmosphere, to help the young women connect more intimately with their strengths and navigate more successfully down the road of life. ‘Alot of us people in the system don’t get to experience things like this, and this is a great chance for us to get out there so people can see we’re not just bad kids and we don’t just have problems. We’re regular people, too, and we want to achieve goals!’ -Marion |
