Trace is a dance film that explores the notion of ‘what if’ s’ - the speculation surrounding the options we did not choose and the paths we did not take. While these thoughts and possibilities have no physical existence, our preoccupation with them means that they have a direct and lasting effect upon us. The relationship between the music and the performers plays a major role in expressing the narrative. The score consists of two pianos, each representing a dancer. Like the dancers, initially only one piano is featured, then the second enters ; the two separate parts combine, darken, and dissipate. |
