Details:

The 1969 Palm Beach Pop Festival almost never happened. Local, State, and even Federal Govt. tried to stop it. County government held zoning meetings. The first Republican governor in 100 years, was a Nixon crony, The manager of the Rolling Stones said the band was 6 hours late to the festival because their plane was held on the tarmac, Nixon’s plane was landing. An early season cold front with driving rain and gusty, bone chilling winds pounded the area west of Jupiter on the edge of the Everglades. A 50,000 plus crowd gathered just 3 months after Woodstock and 6 days before Altamont, The Stones were the closing act. Only 3.000 soaked people remained to see them because they were late and it was freezing cold.
