“Ukraine. When the countdown began” is a large documentary project, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ukrainian independence and the collapse of the Soviet Union. The epoch-making events of 1989-1991 changed the geopolitical conformation of the world forever, the milestones of these years became determinant for a lot of european countries, which became independent and chose the way of self-reliant development. Nevertheless, these events were significant for millions of people, they remain in the shade for the mass audience. In the film the spectator will get the information about what had happened in politic echelons and how the independent Ukraine was founded at first hand.
