The indignities - and the dignity - of old age. Belle sits in the sun with a half dozen of her friends, old Jewish women dressed colorfully, outside their retirement home, probably in Queens. A minibus arrives to take them shopping. Belle finds a couple of identical stuffed toys. She stands on line to buy them, and she also needs to use the ladies’ room. Will she make it? What if she doesn’t? |
