Jim Malone, an ex-convict out of work, leaves his wife and two babies in search of employment. On the other side of life we see a happy couple with a young, healthy child, surrounded by all that prosperity affords. Charles Randolph, the father, accidentally drops his pocketbook that afternoon. Jim picks it up and escapes to his home with it. Mrs. Malone returns the pocketbook to its owner by mail, the next day, Mrs. Randolph’s maid, heavily laden with food and clothing, makes a visit to the slums to help the needy ones. During her absence from the automobile, Margaret, the child, in search of the maid, gets lost. The maid returns to the Randolph home and explains the situation. Mrs. Randolph becomes hysterical. The police are notified and a search is made. Margaret is finally found in Jim Malone’s home. Randolph recognizes him as the thief. Margaret’s love for Jim saves him from the penitentiary and rewards him with a splendid position. |
