Zakir Hussain - Jazz Sessions, tells the story of four extraordinary nights (and days) showcasing the formidable talents of tabla virtuoso/percussionist/composer Zakir Hussain, in concert with some of his favorite collaborators. Filmed and recorded in march 2013, during the historical inaugural season of the San Francisco Jazz Center, the film highlights the consummate virtuosity, improvisational genius and easy, personable charisma which have made Hussain an international celebrity. The presentation of the music is interwoven with insightful interviews, personal commentary and intimate glimpses of life, offstage and backstage, of the artists who came together during the sessions. The performances include appearances by Bela Fleck - banjo, Edgar Meyer-bass, Steve Smith-drums, Giovanni Hidalgo-conga and Eric Harland-drums.
