It’s 1975 in Chicago, and Gary Moten’s band, “ICEMOSIS”, is in the studio to record a few demo songs. The band’s manager, Antwan, and his assistant, Karen are overseeing the session when they’re informed by the studio owner that Matt Sledge president of a major record label, is in the building. Antwan and Karen cut the session short and try to persuade Mr. Sledge into signing the guys to his label. The musicians take this time to do what they do best… write songs, smoke some weed, and make music. After convincing Sledge to listen to the band, Gary, Antwan & Karen rally the troops and head back to the recording booth to play for the executive. There, Gary suggests that they play a new song, one that even Antwan hadn’t heard yet. After hearing only half of the song, Sledge realizes that this group is truly Hot Ice, and signs them on the spot. Eventually they go on to become one of the funkiest bands the world has ever seen or heard… but all good things, unfortunately, must come to an end.
