Ocular is both a nightmare and a dream, disgusting and beautiful; someone’s struggle with faith, humility and total dependence on their imperfect human nature. Ocular communicates it’s message through gestures and movements, visually building tension. It is a symbolically visceral experience… The disturbing acts and imagery, that are portrayed, capture the struggle and desperation that the main character (or ‘Entity’) is going through. The ‘entity’, in the film, represents us all and is searching for something; a communal affiliation with a higher power. It will engage in all manner of self degradation in order to humble itself, and cleanse itself of all human imperfection, in order to reach a higher level of consciousness. |
