Loved watching this movie again. Love the movie but the fierce, independent woman in me, couldn’t stand Mildred’s personality. A doormat doing everything to please everybody else, except herself. That daughter of hers, Veda. That spoiled attitude wouldn’t work with my family. My mother would’ve made sure that my head spun 360 degrees on my neck, “Exorcist” style. No, that wouldn’t fly with my parents. It drove me nuts how the mother threw herself at her daughter’s feet, despite Veda’s flagrant condescension about her upbringing. Got me screaming at the screen many times. It was pathetic to see. Also, the men in her life were no better than her daughter. I couldn’t garner any sympathy for Mildred. Frustrating characters are all around, but this movie is still worth watching.
