Joan devoted her life to her daughter Joy, to her husband Joe, a gym teacher and her colleague, and especially to her job, teaching at a blind school. The she gets a macula-degeneration, which normally occurs slowly with seniors but is mysteriously accelerated, making her colorblind almost overnight and completely blind as a bat in days. After a very slow and difficult transition, she returns to work, where being blind like the kids has its merits too. Then medical misery strikes Joe even harder: the jock gets a tumor, the operation costs his right eye, but he stays generally sick, and doesn’t survive. Once again she picks up the pieces of her life, and his time gets a new partner from her past, high school friend Jim Brock, who is now a reputed butterfly-expert… |
