Trapped is an absurdist comedy about a writer facing a series of obstacles while trying to complete his first short story sale to a very impatient publisher. The writer battles distractions coming at him from all sides: from his would-be publisher, from his girlfriend, from a constantly ringing phone, from endless indecision and nagging self-doubt, and last but not least, from a chipmunk infestation in his back yard. At the very moment our hero should be celebrating the sale of his story, he is detained by three angry police officers who are convinced he’s the man they’ve been searching for. Desperate to prove his innocence, the writer offers his short story as an alibi. He pleads. If only the cops would look at his writing they’d know that he was innocent! That suggestion turns the police officers into unexpectedly astute literary critics who examine the writer’s story and find not an alibi, but incrimination. |
