Legendary Californian surfer Mickey Dora, ‘Da Cat’, invented the myth of the rebel surfer. Then, at the height of his fame, he disappeared. Twenty-seven years on, Ovidio Salazar goes in search of ‘Da Cat’, encountering an assortment of surfers, artists, pornographers, policemen and poets along the way. Some are famous, others unwilling to be identified. Some claim to know where Dora is. Others are strangely evasive, even protective about the master’s whereabouts. But all have a tale to tell about the mysterious and enigmatic Mickey Dora. |
