“Laura of My Dreams” is a brief moment in the relationship between two strangers in a strange land. Winston is African, now trying to survive in a large US city. His mundane phone job involves selling sexual fantasies as if they were aluminum siding. In his personal life, he has a fantasy relationship with Laura, an expatriate Brit whom he is hardly allowed to touch. Their intense connection is based on dreams they express about possibly being together. But her surly and frequently-absent husband is back in town now. Reality strikes. Can their fantasy romance persevere under the attack? |
