On the last day of Navaratri (9 day Hindu festival) Jayu sits in the house listening to the sounds that makes him restless each moment. His heart sinks as he sees girls dolled up for the night, for the festive dance. He, too, longs to go, but he is not allowed! It’s only because previous year he danced wearing a sari in front of the whole neighborhood. People laughed and commented; he didn’t care, as he was living his happiness. But his mother did care about the whole scenario, who then dragged him home. This year he wants to dance like every other year, but this year, he is not allowed! |
