The young Zhezhi, a person of independent means, leads a secluded life in his estate, away from the bustle of the city. His daily routine is interrupted by the arrival of a letter from Varna: his cousin invites him to spend a summer at the seaside. Zhezhi is lost in a reverie about his future adventures, falls asleep and has his holiday dream… Varna. The young man arrives in the city and makes for his cousin’s place, but she has moved to a new address which he does not know. He seats on a bench in the sea garden to rest and he is robbed. With no suitcase and no wallet Zhezhi roams the unfamiliar city. He commits a theft, the police chase him and almost catch up with him in a hot pursuit around a windmill. Zhezhi manages to escape and finds himself on the beach. There he comes across the cousin, her girlfriend and their set. Happy hours are in store for him: basking in the sun, bathing in the sea, playing games amidst the rocks; he even seems to be falling in love… The young man wakes up on his estate. It has been just a dream. There is little time left before the train leaves. He is really going to Varna. |
