For five years Dorothy had put up with her husband although all his refinement, delicacy and love had long since been drowned in drink. Dorothy had reached the turning point. She answered an advertisement calling for a leading woman to accompany a repertoire show west. She was given the position and that night left. She soon learned that the manager had not hired her solely as an actress. When the manager’s advanced became unbearable, Dorothy stepped from the train at a western town. She finds employment as a waitress. She is improperly approached by a cowboy when a champion arises in her defense. Her defender is Wally, a young ranch owner. Their acquaintance ripens and he proposes to her only to learn that she is already married. In the meantime Dorothy’s husband gets in a fight with an acquaintance and kills him. In his hurry to escape he takes the dead man’s coat, leaving his own. The dead man is identified as Dorothy’s husband. She reads of her husband’s death and marries Wally. Shortly afterward the husband turns up and attempts to blackmail her. Wally and his cowboys pursue him. The husband falls down an embankment and is killed. |
