Cold Warning is a story of terror in the arctic in the late 1950s, featuring rising star Dallas Smith and the work of Director of Photography Jesse Meehl. This was made for the Z-Fest film festival - which had a strict 8-minute time limit. I found this interesting and annoying as a writer, as I constantly had to scale back and rewrite, scale back and rewrite until I had written a story I thought would fit into the allowed time. And then we still had to leave out quite a bit of dialogue and some transitional scenes. This version is a minute longer than the festival version and includes most of the things we had to delete for the festival screening. A few scenes or bits of scenes were never filmed, but this is fairly close to what was written. “Cold Warning” is a prequel to the yet to be produced feature “Atomic Nightmare,” though only one non-speaking character continues through to the feature. |
