Are you There? is a classic retro-style Science fiction film inspired by Solaris, STALKER, 2001, The Andromeda Strain. A short movie where the character and story are more important than the visual effects, where the audience is able to project their own psychology onto the screen. We are on Third Earth. We have blown two chances to look after our home. Original Earth is now a restricted area, visited only by archaeologists who study it for its remnants of Original Earth society, much like we study Pompeii or ancient Greece. One keen young archaeologist wants one of the coveted Earth study posts. If he gets it he’ll be alone, with contact only possible for two minute every 14 months or so. He cuts off his friends, family and girlfriend to go to Earth, thinking he can cope with the solitary nature of the study. He can’t, and discovers too late that its too late to do anything about it. Like HAL in 2001, he begins to lose his mind… When he decides that he wants to be in contact he has to reach the transmitter in time to get a message through…
