Only two (or three?) can play at the game of knavery: a cashier who has diverted 200,000 francs consults a businessman to know how to manage this amount of money. The intermediary is only to happy to oblige: he goes and sees the cashier’s employer and tells him that the man has robbed not 200,000 but 400,000 francs from him, and that his relatives have made big sacrifices to repay him, the only trouble being that they have managed to collect only 150,000 francs. The cashier has now earned 50,000 francs legally and even gets a favorable certificate from his boss! |
