Explore a land of plenty, a world of cowboys and pirates, bearded ‘ladies’ and invisible pets. ‘The Imaginary Worlds of Scapa Flow’ is a creative docu-drama inspired by memoirs of service men and women based in wartime Orkney, Scotland. Scapa Flow was the naval base of Great Britain’s Home Fleet for two World Wars. The film was made as part of a film residency with The Pier Arts Centre, Stromness, Orkney, and involved working with the local community - 33 people filled roles as actors, voice over artistes and crew. All events and words in the film are factual, creatively interpreted by the filmmaker. ‘Scapa Flow - to this generation just a name in the history books but to others a home, a mistress, a legend’. |
