Nigredo is the story of a group of plunderers which attacks a freshly collapsed building, probably because of an earthquake or some other natural calamity (this is what we are meant to believe according to the soundtrack of the first part). In a wasteland, a man lies on the ground in between the remnants, an unmoving victim buried in a sea of objects ready to be stolen. The head of the plunderers is cunning and greedy and he reminds us of an alchemist, impatient and determined in the moment in which he believes heโs found the way to turn sorrow into gold. But the unexpected arrival of the army will mix up roles and settings, violently throwing the characters into some post-war scenery. Both screenplay and editing represent the abuses of strong and superior powers and the exploitation of the market of the reconstruction. Big tragedies which are nurtured by daily sordid little stories. |
