In 1868, two railroads raced to lay track across The Great Plains of America. Their vision was to tame a land and unite a war-torn country with its first transcontinental railroad. While an entire nation looked west towards prosperity, one man rode north in search of his future and wound up facing his past. A “Hell on Wheels” railroad town has recently been constructed across a river from Broken Bow and for a young, Irish-American woman named Milly the railroad promises both opportunity and devastation. Her life changes drastically and both tragedy and destiny cement in her path the day a stranger rides into town. Through her trials and tribulations, the young-spirited girl forms an unlikely friendship with the mysterious stranger. Not all are as welcoming.
