Googled is a short apocalyptic narrative, based on a quote by H.P. Lovecraft: ‘Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality…that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.’ Google has actually proclaimed its mission is to ‘organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.’ The film combines the interfaces of social and geographical navigation to speak about the events leading up to the end of the world. By using the medium as the message, it is a horror film for a new age. |
