This is the 17th and last CBS Copperfield TV special, produced by his own production company DCDI Productions six years after the 16th one, The Magic of David Copperfield XVI: Unexplained Forces (1995). It is officially titled “Copperfield: Tornado of Fire”, but is better known as “The Magic of David Copperfield XVII: Tornado of Fire”. There are two versions of this special, one for USA only broadcasting (60 minutes), in witch David Copperfield performs nine illusions, and the other one for international only broadcasting (90 minutes). The international version contains six extra illusions, and the 5th one, titled “Test Condition”, has been co-conducted by Whoopi Goldberg, connected to the stage via a monitor. This is the only special filmed in a surrounded stage and that shows, as final performance, a live (in USA only) tornado stunt, after the pre-recorded TV special, filmed and edited three months early, on January. “Tornado of Fire” is one of the few stunts no more repeated. |
