Lost Birds (2015) tells the story of a brother and a sister who are left behind during the mass deportations of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. Bedo and Maryam return from their secret dovecote only to find an empty house and a ghost village. What happened to their parents and the neighbors? The children embark on a journey to search for their mother, along with their bird called Bacik. This children’s film was praised by some as the first Turkish production that tries to deal with the Armenian Genocide, at least from the POV of children.
