Crystal Cave, in Sequoia National Park, has been a popular tourist attraction for over 70 years. Powering the lights inside the remote cave location has always been a technical challenge, and several different diesel and gas generators have been used over the decades, creating noise and air pollution. In 2011, the entire cave operation converted to clean, renewable solar power, inspiring and educating park visitors about alternatives to fossil fuels. |
