Details:

Nopoki ‘I come’ tells the story of a multicultural bilingual University for indigenous people which exists in the middle of the Amazon Jungle in Peru. To say that education is essential is nothing new. That without knowledge it is difficult to reach maturity either. That a Croatian franciscano who settled forty years ago in these places puts in place a project of such magnitude is. Nopoki is the dream of the indigenous people come true thanks to the tenacity and conviction of Monsignor Zerdín. It means ‘I come’ and here arrive natives from all over the country to learn, to improve, to help their communities not to disappear, to conserve their culture, to value their traditions, their language. Nopoki ‘I come’ is a journey from the beginning in which the author embarks on crossing the Atlantic, the Andes, and the Jungle to bring us, through her personal and silent gaze, the present. She proposes sharing what they are like, how these people live. Young people devoted to study, to work; teachers who teach, who learn; consultants who make this reality work and grow. Their anxieties, wishes, innocence, generosity. A symbiosis of people, ethnicities and cultures where unity matters, experience is appreciated, and hope makes them greater. Each one of them takes part in this miracle. Together they make it possible.
