TESS DELANEY, seventeen, is a troubled teen that has just experienced the untimely death of her father. Her mother, ALISHA DELANEY, is distraught herself, but moves quickly into acceptance and facing the future. While at her father’s funeral, Tess encounters a vision of her dead father giving her a warning for her own life., a sign of strange things to come. After the funeral, Tess and her mother begin to move their lives forward. While entering their home, Tess is visited by CAL, a classmate of Tess. He is confident with himself, not part of Tess’ world. He apologizes to Tess for the student body not showing up at her father’s funeral. This is not a concern of Tess, who realizes her status at the school anyway. Later that evening, Alisha finds Tess in the bathroom, apparently having tried to take her own life. However, Tess doesn’t remember anything about the cuts in her wrists. She spends time in the adolescent unit for observation. Returning home, Tess is given several types of medication to take. Alisha, who works on a graveyard shift, has to leave home for the evening, leaving Tess alone throughout the night. At this point Tess begins to distort her visions with reality. She sees images of herself from the past and present, revealing segments from her life. A ten year old version of Tess appears, warning the teenage Tess of an impending danger, threatening her life. There is also a dark version of Tess who joins the ten year old in the warnings. Tess’ visions become distorted to the point that she can’t tell apparition from what’s real. Unstable is a limited location, small cast story with a tense and mind bending story conclusion.
