Pirate Twilight offers a view into Russian pirated video industry. After coming home to Siberia from California, Vasily takes a job translating pirated DVDs into Russian to save for an airfare back to America. Overworked and sleep-deprived, he is chronically late, prompting his femme fatale boss to fire him. One day he comes to a job interview and discovers that his potential employers are an undercover police detective and a representative of a film producers’ association working on a joint operation to crack down on piracy. Faced with evidence of his own involvement, Vasily is offered to assist the investigation into his former boss. |
