Helle is a lonely woman, living by herself in a big house. Late one night, an elderly man, Richard, rings her doorbell. He claims that he grew up in the house and that he forgot some effects in the basement when he moved out and when Helle tells him that she never cleaned out the basement, Richard asks if he can come inside and grab the things. Reluctantly, Helle agrees and lets him in. Once inside, Richard feels at home right away. He takes his time getting the effects out of the basement and he starts reminiscing old memories. All Helle, who is uncomfortable around Richard and people in general, wants, is to get Richard out of the house. But gradually she starts to enjoy his company. Richard seems like a lonely man and Helle offers him a glass of wine and listens to more of his stories. But when Richard reveals the real reason for his late night visit, the mood suddenly changes. He was hoping to find a painting that his brother made decades ago - a brother who has recently died. When Richard describes the painting Helle realize that she has the painting hanging on her bedroom wall. She goes to get it and gives it to Richard who gratefully takes off. Helle returns to her cooking, eats in front of the TV and then falls asleep. A couple of hours later there is another knock on the door… |
