Chacahua is a touristic island in the shore of Oaxaca, Mexico. It’s habitants have been invisible for the world, including the eyes which visit it. Paradise’s Traces, tells the story of some kids on this island who dream about participating in a surf contest which will be held this year. The underlying features of their traditions and a life apparently idyllic will show the social problems which affect the community: absent fathers due to vices or migration, a poor education and moral dilemmas regarding the environmental concern. Facing this scenario, Paradise’s Traces, is a film that questions if the children of Chacahua are doomed to repeat their ancestor’s fate or in contrary, hopes have a future. |
