September 1940: For over a year the once free State of Poland and her people have been suffering under a brutal occupation by the combined forces of the twentieth century’s two most evil empires (Hitler’s Nazi Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union). Amidst the darkness of this seemingly hopeless situation, an unassuming Polish Army Officer named Witold Pilecki, volunteers for an almost certainly suicidal undercover mission. He will infiltrate the newly constructed concentration camp near the little known southwestern Polish town of Auschwitz. Once inside the barbed wire, he will organize a resistance network and smuggle out intelligence about the camp’s activities. |
