Eli, a WWII veteran, sits alone in a classroom, waiting for his grandson’s show and tell to start. On the other side of the wall his grandson’s math class has begun. The teacher, an elderly spinster, starts writing equations on the chalkboard. The scrapes and taps of the chalk, be it through fate or coincidence, perfectly mirror Morse Code. Echoing through the wall, the Morse Code calls out Eli’s name. Grabbing a piece of chalk, Eli taps back. What ensues is a most unlikely conversation between a math teacher and a WWII vet that encompasses a tale of lost love from Eli’s all but forgotten past.
