She has many stories to tell about life and death. In 1940s she joins the resistance movement fighting for Ukraine’s independence. Escaping Soviet spies, she ends up in forest as a partisan meeting their leader. They fall in love. She gets pregnant. How is the life in the forest? How it feels to date the death, each time managing to survive? As Ukraine becomes independent, 85-year-old Vasylyna, one of Ukrainian highlanders, known as Hutsuls, tells her life story for the first time. |
