Middling lawyer Julien sees his childhood friend Jacques, now a rich property developer, accused of the murder of his wife, a woman they both loved but who ended up choosing Jacques. Instead of entrusting his defense to his best friend however, Jacques chooses high-profile lawyer Pierre Leonardi. All the evidence is against the husband, who nevertheless claims his innocence. His lawyer does his best but Jacques is found guilty. Visiting his friend in prison, Julien manages to persuade Jacques to let him handle his appeal. Will Julien get his best friend out of jail? And if Jacques is innocent, who did kill his wife? Was he framed? And who wanted this woman dead? A member of the chateau’s staff? A guest at her last dinner party?
