This movie is another Stephen King adaptation of a novella called Hearts in Atlantis. The novella is in fact a collection of 5 short stories and this movie is based on the short story, “Low Men in Yellow Coats”. The character Sir Anthony Hopkins plays, Ted Brautigan, appears in King’s The Dark Tower novel, where the full extent the of Ted’s psychic power is shown. King almost always interweaves his characters from one story or novel into another. Although not shown in this film, Ted is a powerful Psychic that can time travel, and the story which this movie is based on was considered a tie-in to The Dark Tower novel. This movie is also Anton Yelchin’s theatrical debut. This a brilliant movie that is highly underrated.
Thanks for all that background information.
Great movie! Very cool and unique idea for a movie. Anthony Hopkins is such a great actor. Anton Yelchin is good as well in this, shame he passed so early. Seemed like I just hit play a few minutes ago and it’s already over. It just flew by. The soundtrack is terrific as well. Something that always brings that extra lift to fill out the movie as a whole. 8/10
