A remake of Joseph Cornell’s early art film classic “Rose Hobart” tinted in pink and blue colors. In 1936 artist Cornell had bought a print of the B-movie East of Borneo at a junk shop. Obsessed wit the lead actress he would occasionally cut some parts or add pieces of nature films, until it was condensed to its final-length of 19 minutes, mostly featuring shots of Miss Hobart. It is not only one of the first found footage films but also a pioneering effort in the “fanvid”. “Fresh Cornell” applies the same method to the two a recent action movie starring one of the leading movie stars of today. . Sacrificing most of the action scenes makes way to a surprising deja vu: Everything is still there - the alluring exotic eroticism, the dreamlike quality and the voyeuristic obsession. |
