1880s California. Estella is obsessed with the idea that she can see and speak with her fiancée, Stephen, who died several years before. But when the arrogant and opium addicted hypnotist Daniel appears on the scene, he unexpectedly challenges Estella to question her commitment to a love that has long since died. It is a story set in the Old West but told from a uniquely female perspective, about the curative power of sexuality, and about learning to love again after a loss. |
